If your teenager is aspiring to study abroad in the US, being a parent you can stand by his or her side to fulfill the American dream. SAT is presently an empty acronym. Previously SAT was abbreviated for Scholastic Aptitude Test following Scholastic Assessment Test. To study abroad in USA, SAT is mandatory. On the basis of the SAT scores, international students get admitted in the celebrated colleges in United States.

Structure of SAT:

SAT test takes 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete. The test is broadly segregated into three major parts. They are:

  • Critical Reading
  • Mathematics
  • Writing

Each of the section carries 200-800 marks and is divided in three parts. SAT consists of 10 sub divisions that include 25 minute experimental section which can be from any of the three major sections in the test.

  • Mathematics: Mathematics section is the Quantitative part of SAT. Some also term this section as calculation section. Like the Critical reading section, the math paper is also segregated in two 25 minutes test and one 20 minutes test. The first two sections comprise 20 questions each while the later half consists of 20 multiple choice questions. There are no negative marking in this section of SAT.

  • Critical Reading: This is a formal verbal section that has total 70 minutes of time. Two sections are given 25 minutes each and the last one is of 20 minutes. A variety of questions are set for the examinees. The section of critical reading begins with questions of sentence completion, around 5-8. The rest is focused on the reading comprehensions. These comprehensions are probably given from humanities, social science, physical sciences etc. The parameter of difficult questions increases with the gradual progress of the test.

  • Writing: This is a non verbal section where students have to write essays. Following the essay writing, the SAT examinees have to solve multiple choice questions including error corrections, sentence development etc. alongside, this section of SAT also judges the grammatical concepts of the children who dreams to study abroad in USA.

Hence, after achieving good scores in SAT the after school life of the students may start under the bliss of abroad education.
